LFG 4 WoW Art Pst

Alright, I must admit, I am a fan of this game. World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massive multiplayer online role-player game (MMORPG) that has taken this world by storm with over 11.5 million monthly subscribers which makes this game the most popular MMORPG. Blizzard Entertainment is the video game developer and publisher which started a virtual community where fans would create artwork related to the game and share their expression of passion.

Blizzard Entertainment, Tierzero and the Samia Family is responsible for presenting the exhibition "WoW: Emergent Media Phenomenon" at the Laguna Art Museum located in the beautiful city of Laguna Beach, California. Once I heard about this event, I had to visit the exhibition to view the art in person. I was amazed by the numerous participating artists from around the globe. The exhibition consist of graphics and packaging artwork from Blizzard, the exploration of in-game design and development, fan art, and a silent auction. The exhibition is great for all ages. Afterwards, take a walk down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful weather, good food and shopping.

The exhibition continues until October 4.
I'd like to thank Marni Brewster, Communications Manager for Laguna Art Museum in granting Monzuki full access and information for the coverage of the exhibition.

Look Like Bob Dob

"Black Eyed Mouseketeers" at Perihelion Arts Gallery, August 7.

When I first saw these painting, I thought to myself, "wow, these characters look like the artist." I was right, Bob Dob stated that they are his alter ego. His statement to Monzuki, "I think my alter ego is rather angry no nonsense kind of guy. I'm not sure why but maybe because I'm a pretty mellow guy."

Bob wanted to become a professional baseball player until the battle of cancer causes him to turn toward music and art. Bob graduated from Otis College of Art & Design in 2001 which he later went back to teach illustration. "I decided to teach once I gained some experience as a professional illustrator. I felt I had learned a few things I could pass on to the illustration majors." Bob is also the president of The Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles.

You could view his latest paintings, "Black Eyed Mouseketeers" on August 7 at Perihelion Arts Gallery in Phoenix, Arizona. His work is available on GelaSkins as well.

Simplicity At Best

I have mentioned in the past for my admiration in multi-layering effect in art. As much as I am a big fan of their style, this is a version of simplicity where minimalist artist, William Steiger captured my heart. Although his work look like vector art, William strips the clutter and simplified the scenario, then hand painted his work with high contrasting flat colors with precision. His work is very tranquil and serene. It is so simple, it's beautiful.

William Steiger graduated with a MFA from Yale University. He is currently working on a monograph about his work and has several upcoming exhibition, including Atlanta and Seoul, Korea. You could view his work at Margaret Thatcher Projects in New York as part of a group exhibition which ends August 28.
