Take a look at these beautiful oil paintings by Joe Sorren. I enjoy the consistent style of the character creation and the color choices Joe uses throughout his paintings. His talent has gain global recognition by gallery exhibitions as well as published work on The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stones, Time, The Washington Post, and The Harvard Review.

Joe Sorren graduated with a BFA from Northern Arizona University and a two time winner of a gold medal of the Society of Illustrators. Among his collection of paintings, Joe is also a sculptor. Different Perspective

We view art to explore and question the aesthetics and their meaning. This is a great example to study. Levi Van Veluw crafted these interesting series of self-portraits by using his face as a canvas, then photographed himself. It began as an experiment with different mediums which developed into a concept. Levi quoted, "The expressionless, and almost universal face, allows the viewer to project himself onto the work." Although this series is not about self-portrait but the study of materials, colors and textures, using his body as an object for his self expression and to invoke thought and reaction from the viewers.

Levi Van Veluw graduated cum laude from the ArtEZ' Art School in Arnhem, Netherlands. His artwork has been displayed internationally, and he is the winner of the Photographer of the Year Award from the International Photography Awards.

Like Body, Like Mind

Beth Cavener Stichter quoted, "I rely on animal body language in my work as a metaphor for these underlying patterns, transforming the animal subjects into human psychological portraits." She explains the similarities of human and animal body language, as well as the nature of the message through the subconscious mind.

Beth uses clay to sculpt these amazing art, as she explains, "I have always linked the materiality of flesh and the memory of it with clay." Her larger pieces would take 3 to 5 months to complete. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from Haverford College, and Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from The Ohio State University.
