Herald

Working exclusively in Black and White Photography, Cole Thompson started this amazing series by accident when he was shooting at Utah. He came across a lonely cloud, passing right over a hill and with only moments to spare. He got one shot of the picture, leading the first image to this series. Cole Thompson stated, "The loneliness and singleness of this cloud really struck me, and I knew what it represented, a Harbinger."

"Harbinger", the title of the series. As Cole question the chance of coming across a lone cloud, he states, "Fortunately, I have been running into them more often than I would have ever imagined. Perhaps the heightened awareness does it, like when you own a pink car and you suddenly start noticing them everywhere."

In my opinion, even though a lone cloud might be easy to find, this is still a great series of photography. The soft lone cloud, floating over harsh surface. Creative by the uniqueness of the shape of every cloud, framed by the form of the earthly surface, juxtapose with high contrast. Excellent.

Cole Thompson was named photographer of the year by the Black and White Spider Awards, and has featured in publication, LensWork, B&W, Black and White, Silvershotz, American Photo and PhotoLife. He resides on a small ranch in North Colorado. Check his website for an additional series of outstanding work.

Subconscious Interpretations

Stating his art as therapy and a form of self expression, Scott Saw explores the relationship of the cycle of life and the existence beyond death.  His inspiration, color and style is a reflection of his life.  Viewing his artwork annually, you could see the transformation and the progression of his work.  I am amazed by Scott's choices of color, the textural elements in his paintings, and the different phases and maturity of his work.

Scott Saw graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Art and Marketing.  He has self published three books based on his artwork.  Recently, he has painted a portrait of David J, artist/musician from the band Bauhaus, Love and Rockets.  Check out his website for additional artwork, and the online store offer prints and merchandise for reasonable rates.

Destination Asia

There are many interesting and fascinating discoveries when traveling to another country, viewing another culture from a different perspective. Covering the cities of Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, Alexander James photographed these beautiful imagery of taxi signage adjacent to city lights at night. Alexander stated in his series, "The images illustrate my fascination with the energy of urban taxis at night: they glow with a sense of urgency in the business of someone's journey playing out. The way the landscape of the city can interact with the reflective surface's of the taxi is often overlooked, these images aim to capture that light play with the energy and bustle of city life and the stillness of the individual within it."

These amazing images are "pure", shot on medium format photos and unaltered without cropping or any post production. Alexander James specializes in commercial, advertising, lifestyle, property, portrait, landscape, and fine art photography. Check his additional photographs on his website. Blending Of Two Worlds

Victor Eredel is an outstanding photographer from Petrozavodsk, Russia. I had a difficult time deciding whether to post his photography work or his photography combined with illustration. Upon viewing his work, I chose to write about his photography+Illustration because they are unique. The blending of two worlds creates a surreal experience between realistic and fantasy. Victor's illustration of the subject consist depth by light and shadow, superimposed on a photographic environment, forcing the eye on to focus on the focal point. This series of work implies fun and playful yet dark and macabre.
