Hauntingly Beautiful
Distorted and unfocused surrealistic imagery with reminiscent of 18th century paintings, Chris Berens' technique is one of a kind. His paintings has a photographic essence without using any traditional media. Chris paints with water-based inks and oil paints on a smooth printing paper, giving him the option to smudge, scrape, rewetting and drying in order to reshape his art. He would continue to paint on transparent plastics, cut and paste them over his painting to create depth and layering effect.
Chris Berens studied illustration at the Academy of Arts and Design in Hertogenbosch. His work is seen globally through solo and group exhibitions. Currently, his paintings are displayed at Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch, Netherlands, from July 11 to August 30. I want to thanks Jaski Art Gallery for the release of Chris Berens' painting displayed on Monzuki.
