Marie Barr has been telling stories with her art. She is inspired by her day to day interactions with other people through body postures and gestures. Marie states, "If you were to watch someone on a phone call who is fiddling with a paperclip at the same time – you would know more about the phone conversation by how they interact with the paper clip than by what they say to the person on the other end of the phone line. That is what I try to communicate with my art."
The International Lifeline Fund and Art Whino Gallery are putting together a group show, "Life Essentials" featuring Marie Barr's art on September 26 at The Portals Theater in Washington DC, and a group show at Art Basel in South Beach, Florida, December 5-6.
