Metaphoric Language

Artist and Painter Samuli Heimonen states, "All my latest paintings portray animals in different situations.  The focus itself is not in animals but in human experience.  Animals are metaphors for unknown, secret, creative side of the world.  My roots as a painter are in surrealism and symbolism."

Samuli Heimonen graduated with an MFA at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki.  He was chosen as Finland's "Young Artist of the Year in 2008."  His work are in several collections, Helsinki City Art Museum, The City of Porvoo, The Paulo Foundation, Art Centre Salmela, The University of Art and Design in Helsinki and more.
