Encaustic Narration

Every painting has a story which I find fascinating. The darkness and tensity of the possible mishap. According to Matt Duffin, he had three words, "melancholy, tranquility, mystery." During the years of experimenting with different mediums, he finally settled with encaustic wax because it has the richest and most saturated black. The childlike subjects in his paintings are influenced by his children. When they leave the room, the objects become the subject that breathes life.

Matt graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, but he decided to focus his creative as an artist. Matt Duffin has two group shows in December. The Art of Play at Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco, December 3 - January 30, and The Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia.
